April 2nd, Troop 440 began on-site preparations for the upcoming camporee. While the Troop camped, cooked, and worked on Scout requirements they took time out to discuss and prepare for the camporee.

The tomahawk target was completed. With a dimension of 4 by 4 feet, the target is brand new, made from 2 x 6 boards. We have also purchased 3 brand new tomahawks for the event.

In addition, the troop has identified several areas to be used for the “Try not to die night” aka wilderness survival. On the next workday, we will be cutting some underbrush to provide additional materials to build survival shelters with.

While building our fires a really long pole was dragged up and then we realized this would make a great flag pole. Jumping into action, the Scouts lashed together and raised about a 30-foot flag pole for the weekend. We also plan to use this at the camporee.
