During Fall Camporee there will be a unique training opportunity for Leaders who are not involved with the Camporee. The Training will begin at 3:00 PM and attendees are welcome to stay for the Potluck dinner at the Camporee. More information will follow. 

Den Leader Training

With the changes to the Cub Program, there will be in-person Den Leader training opportunities both locally and throughout the District. See the flyer attached. Our local Den Leader trainings are presently scheduled for Aug 31 and Sept 14. Those dates and locations are subject to change. These dates are designed to help the leaders who you have coming in from round-up. 

BALOO 

Also for Cub Leaders, there will be several BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) opportunities throughout the Fall. Remember that no Cubs can go camping without at least one BALOO-trained leader.

IOLS

There are also Troop leader trainings throughout the Fall which are IOLS – Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills. These are presently scheduled for:

Wood Badge 

Wood Badge is the premier training for anyone who is an adult in Scouting Leadership. We highly recommend attending. Wood Badge Training will not only make you a better Scout Leader, it will also assist you in improving your personal and professional life as well.

NYLT – National Youth Leadership Training

This is the Premier Leadership Training for Youth. If you have youth who have attended and want to staff – please have them contact me (Laura Scott 615.772.3681) or Addi if they have any questions.

University of Scouting

Plenty of unique in-person classes are being offered at the University of Scouting which will be December 7 in Braselton. The course catalog will be coming out soon (see NEGA website)

Also scheduled to occur during the University of Scouting:

  • Order of the Arrow members will gather for MOWOGO Lodge Leadership Training 
  • Comprehensive midway presentations from many aspects of the NEGA program, as well as local district programs
  • Special annual discounted pricing on cases of Pinewood Derby cars in preparation for Cub Scouts’ racing season.
  • Cub Rangemaster Training for adults
  • Train-The-Trainer (T3) Series

Wilderness First Aid Training

Those who need Wilderness First Aid Training (required for Philmont trips) there is a class scheduled for Aug 16-18 at Scoutland. Please sign up ASAP as these classes fill up fast. NEGA website.
