Overview

This Fall’s camporee will be themed Hillbilly Olympics.

At this Camporee, patrols will compete in scout skill based competitions to win the grand prize of “Roxanne”. All of the competitions will be tied into the Olympics Theme. Some of the highlight events include can shooting, hay lifting, tractor tire rolling and crate stacking.

All the events will be point based. All timed events will have a point system assigned to them. All shooting sport events will be based on the number of targets hit. Points will also be given for each Troop’s Scout Spirit throughout the day.

General Information

Camporee Location – Payne Farm Property – 2639 Jones Creek Road, Blairsville Ga 30512 – See Directions Page

Camporee Cost – $10.00 per person – Pay at Camporee and make checks out to Troop 101. Camporee patch is included in cost.

Camping – Troops will be camping in open pastures therefore everyone should bring a tent.

Parking – Parking is available at the Campsites and at the House place Entrance.

Water – Water is available at the light pole in front of the house on the property.

Meals – Due to Covid Scouts will eat with their Troop.

Friday:
4:30-7:00 pm Arrive and set up camp 8:30 pm Scout Master and SPL meeting 11:00 pm Lights out

Saturday:
8:30 am Flags and Announcements 9:00-12:00am Patrol events 12:00-1:00am Lunch
1:00-3:00 pm Patrol events 3:15-5:30 pm Troop events/free time 5:45 pm Dinner
8:00 pm District Campfire
9:00 pm Order of the Arrow Call Out 11:00 pm Lights out

Sunday:
9:00 am Scouts Own Service 10:00 am Clean up and dismissal

Camporee Events Information
Morning……_(Each Morning event will include a Scouting Heritage Question)

  • ●  Hay Lifting – Scouts will use strength and a rope to lift a platform of hay bales.
  • ●  Can Shooting (Air Rifle)- At this event scouts will shoot cans for points..
  • ●  Log tying- At this event scouts will compete for the best time in lashing logs as a patrol.
  • ●  Crate Stacking – Stack Milk Crates to the sky wearing a harness.
  • ●  Bean bag toss – Scouts will spin around a bat then throw bean bags at a target outlined in the field.
  • ●  Tire Rolling – Patrols will see who can roll a large tire the longest distance. Afternoon…………………..

Turn right onto Foster Road at the Union/Fannin Line (Reds Store) go 0.25 miles Turn left onto Blue Ridge Hwy go 500 feet
Turn Right onto Jones Creek Road go 1.5 miles
Turn Right onto driveway 2639 (Across the road from the big Red Barn)

From Union and Towns
Traveling 515 SouthWest from Blairsville go 7.7 miles
Turn Left onto Nottely Dam Rd – (across from Valero Store) go 1 mile Cross over Old Blue Ridge Hwy onto Jones Creek LN go 0.25 mile Turn Left onto Jones Creek Road go .75 mile
Turn Right onto driveway 2639 (Across the road from the big Red Barn)
